With a sponsorship by the Spatial Cognition Research Center (SFB/TR 8), STeDY 2012 offers scholarship support for student participants.

About SFB/TR 8. The interdisciplinary Transregional Collaborative Research Center Spatial Cognition: Reasoning, Action, Interaction has been established by the German Research Foundation / Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) at the Universities Bremen and Freiburg. The center is concerned with research topics relevant to the acquisition, organization, utilization and revision of knowledge about spatial environments. The goal of the SFB/TR 8 is to investigate the cognitive foundations for human-centered spatial assistance systems.
Student Scholarships
Limited scholarships are available, and these will be competitively offered as a lump sum grant to be reimbursed after the workshop. The scholarship may be utilised toward participation costs for the workshop. The scholarships will be announced before the workshop, and awarded and recognised during the event.

- Applying students would be university-based, and enrolled full-time in an educational programme. If part-time enrolled, then an undertaking of non-involvement in commercial activity or industry employment should be provided. A student ID / number or letter of confirmation by relevant authority should be included.
- Applicants would have submitted a contribution for review to the workshop as per the general submission requirements. Acceptance of contribution is not necessary to receive a scholarship.
- The student applicant would be the first-author and principal contributor of the submitted contribution.
- A two-page CV indicating education and past research (if applicable) is needed. Optionally, applicants may submit a half to one page letter describing their present funding situation. After merit, need for funding may be criteria in the decision-making.
- Participation is necessary in order to be eligible for the final scholarship recognition, and fund reimbursement.
Scholarship recipients whose research topics closely align with the research scope of STeDy will be offered the opportunity to visit and collaborate in the context of ongoing research activities within the Spatial Cognition Center.
Best Paper Award
A (non-financial) best paper award will be presented during the workshop. The award is based on the overall reviews by the program committee, novelty of the ideas published in the paper, and their final presentation at the workshop. The final decision will be made by an internal selection committee. Results will be announced toward the end of the workshop.
