Abstract: | The Hyperontology framework has been recently introduced to provide a general methodology for heterogeneous ontology design, i.e. the construction of ontologies that have parts, or modules, written in dierent formalisms, and which are interlinked in complex ways. We here present a brief outline of this framework, discuss its features and merits, and illustrate its usefulness for the domain of biomedical ontology design by providing and discussing a number of examples. |
