Abstract: | Auditory displays have been suggested and partly established in the operating room, including audible alarms, anesthesia monitoring, and sounds for navigation. This work reviews them from a psychoacoustic perspective. Results show that only auditory displays that include some psychoacoustic considerations are successful. Guidelines for psychoacoustic auditory displays are suggested to maximize information and interpretability. |
