About me

Matthias Luber received his Diploma degree in computer science from the University of Freiburg, Germany, in 2007. Specialized in the fields of mobile robotics and machine learning he is currently working towards the Ph.D. degree in robotics at the Social Robotics Laboratory. Concerned with people detection and tracking in 2D, 3D, and RGB-D data, he is working intensively on integrating spatio-temporal and social information to improve tracking accuracy. Furthermore, by learning human motion behavior he is working towards socially acceptable robot navigation in crowded environments.

Interests

His research interests include people tracking, on-line appearance learning, motion prediction, and socially acceptable human-robot interaction.

Research Projects

Matthias Luber is member of the Social Robotics Laboratory working on the SFB/TR-8 N1-[SocialSpace] project. His research is concerned with people tracking under social constraints. The idea is to extend a state-of-the-art multi-hypothesis target tracker with domain specific knowledge on people. Learning human activities and using pedestrian models leads to more accurate tracking behavior at reduced costs.
